All signs are made by hand in a direct manner. The wood is hand-planed, the text is drawn by hand, the paint is applied with a brush, and the graphics are carved with chisels. This may seem laborious, and it is, but certainly no more laborious than adjusting and using machines, making jigs, and sanding with and without electricity for hours. I avoid sandpaper. I cut the wood and make it smooth at once. I get a rise from the honesty that is revealed when the hand makes a stroke and character appears.
. . . I will be posting more examples of carved signs soon!
